Algebra 2/trig lessons during the school year are usually 1 hour once (or twice) a week from Monday to Thursday and 1.5 hours once or twice each weekend from Friday to Sunday. Some weekend lessons are longer if you are preparing for an exam for the following week. Primarily during the week, I will prepare you for the next lessons until I meet with you again. On the weekend, I prepare students for the upcoming week or for upcoming exams. Most students come to 2 or 3 lessons a week. When the math gets harder or as necessary, some students may come more often to lessons.

Lee Academics Algebra 2/trig prep course includes:

  • Up to 3 1-hour instructional lessons a week (some weeks may be up to 4 lessons as needed)
  • Many practice exams/materials from Lee Academics resources for your current algebra 2 book and from former algebra 2 books from your school. These are worked on before or after your instructional lesson. I will go over your mistakes.
  • Strategies for doing algebra 2 problems faster, allowing more time to do hard algebra 2 problems on the test

Lee Academics Algebra 2/Trig prep course will cover:

  • Current algebra 2 chapter/lessons at school during the week days
  • Work ahead to cover future algebra 2 lessons within the chapter during the weekends or working on the next chapter after a chapter exam during the week.
  • Past algebra 2 chapters during the weekends are necessary to understand the current chapter
  • Algebra 1 as necessary for success in the current algebra 2 chapter/lesson – The Common Core algebra 1 book is not as comprehensive as a traditional algebra 1 book. Students using this book will not learn a full year of traditional algebra 1. It will be difficult to move into the algebra 2 book without full algebra 1 knowledge. Some algebra 1 concepts are critical for success in algebra 2.
  • Some algebra 2 concepts span many chapters. These concepts will be emphasized at lessons.
  • Geometry formulas as needed for homework and word problems

Algebra 2/trig topics that require mastery as foundational skills for precalculus:

  • Many algebra 2 graphs – There are many graphs taught in an algebra 2 book and in the homework problems that will need to be memorized for precalculus. Graphing is an essential skill necessary for many chapters in algebra 2 and precalculus.
  • Logs properties and graphs
  • Exponential growth and decay – Pert
  • Domain and some range
  •  Trig identities
  • The unit circle and possibly inverse trig – Inverse trig is no longer taught in most common core algebra 2 books.
  • Inverse trig is in precalculus and calculus.
  • Rational functions
  • Polynomial – graphs factoring (including special factoring formulas with Mamie’s strategies), zeros
  • Radicals graphs and solving
  • Graphing and solving system of equations – This skill is always needed precalculus, and calculus AB and BC.

Algebra 2 topics that require mastery as foundational skills for precalculus and calculus BC:

  • Sequences and series – Calculus BC series is very difficult. A thorough understanding of algebra 2 series is necessary for precalculus and calculus BC.
