MATH COURSES

Fall math classes will start on the last week of August. If your semester starts earlier, your fall lessons will be earlier in August. Most students will begin fall lessons a few days before the first day of school. This will allow you a few days of review before the first day of your math class.

In the fall math lessons, I will either:

  • Start with your book from school in the fall with the first chapter that your teacher will work on.
  • Start with test practice for your chapter 1 exam. These practice problems will be very similar to your real chapter 1 exam from your teacher. We will practice many questions for each of your chapter exams from my extensive practice resources.
  • Get you ready for your diagnostic exam – I have a very good idea of what will be on your diagnostic exam.
    • Some of you will take an exam that counts toward your fall semester grade. This test is usually based on many of the math from the previous year or from your summer homework. Be careful, some of you have a summer packet, but the first exam will be different from your summer packet.
    • Some teachers give a diagnostic exam. This exam often does not count. However, this is the teachers first impression of your math abilities. Some math teachers may also move you to another class based on the diagnostic score on this first math test.

Fall math lessons start from the end of August goes to the end of your first semester. Math lessons during the school year are usually 1 hour once or twice a week from Monday to Thursday and 1.5 hours once or twice each weekend from Friday to Sunday. Some weekend lessons are longer if you are preparing for an exam for the following week. Primarily during the week, I will prepare you for the next lessons until I meet with you again. On the weekend, I prepare students for the upcoming week or for upcoming exams. Most students come to 2 or 3 lessons a week. When the math gets harder or as necessary, some students may come more often to lessons.

I look forward to working with your family this coming school year.
