Our number one recommendation is to ask questions! Ask your tutor questions that specifically come from your homework and tests. We always ask students if they have questions. Additionally, students can do the following to increase their learning:
Study Tips
- Do all odd problems and check against the back of the book. Possibly do it a second time for speed and accuracy.
- Do all evens and check the solution manual. Also check with the solution manual if you miss an odd problem. The solution manual gives all of the steps.
- For faster additional practice, it may be a good idea to look at each problem in your book, think about the solution, and then confirm it with the solution manual. Try to get in as many practice problems as possible. Add in accuracy and speed as you gain mastery. (Ask for further clarification if you still do not understand the solution manual.)
- Do additional problems from my teacher resources (practice exams, extra practice problems, and enrichment exercises). Complete these before lessons if possible so that I can answer your questions during lessons.
- Come for additional practice on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Most students benefit from more practice. Be sure to have me go over your mistakes.
- Do extra problems on weekdays as your school load allows.
- Flag and date all mistakes. Go over it again before exams.
- Every weekend, be sure to have mastery on all material covered during the week.
- Go one lesson ahead on the weekend.
- Prepare for possible exams for the next week.
- If you finished an exam late in the week, review earlier chapters and go forward on the weekend.
- Constantly review earlier chapters.
